Artist Jane Chapman: "An Art Full-Life"
Art has filled Jane Chapman’s life to produce beautiful creations through slate tiles, fabrics, gifts, graphics, along with her original canvases. As a youth she showed tremendous talent with drawing and painting, which she honed by earning a degree in Applied Arts. She leveraged her skills by working in Advertising as a graphic artist and then in the retail industry.
Utilizing her design expertise, she started the company Plain Jane, Inc., an international wholesale manufacturer of gift items. The company grew domestically and globally with her products being marketed in Nordstrom, Hallmark and Cracker Barrel stores as well as on QVC Home Shopping Network, among other outlets.
After two decades in business and securing the “Woman of Achievement” award in 2001 from the YWCA, Jane sold her company to Oak Patch Gifts, where she remains on staff as a designer and consultant for the Plain Jane brand.
She also recognized natural talent in her daughter Jill. The two worked together to open a gallery, The Fredericksburg Good Art Company in the Hill country of Fredericksburg, Texas. See Jill’s work at www.jillhollandart.com and get a view of the artists of the gallery at www.thegoodartco.com.
In addition, Jane passionately pursues her painting career offering a contemporary style that is rich in texture and color combination. She utilizes mixed media with acrylic paint, oils, and gold leaf with patina. One of her personal objectives is to help make original paintings accessible – and affordable – to art lovers everywhere. Currently she works with interior designers and individual buyers on commissioned works of gallery wrapped canvases and wood museum box canvases in all sizes to fit all decors. |
